Jacqui joined the Buzbee Law Firm in May of 2017. She is a native of DeRidder, Louisiana. Jacqui is a graduate of Louisiana State University and the LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she served as Vice President of her senior class.
After law school, Jacqui practiced with firms in New Orleans and Lafayette, Louisiana. In New Orleans, Jacqui represented clients in complex commercial litigation, including suits for unfair trade practices, breach of corporate responsibility, bankruptcy matters, and contract disputes. Her focus then shifted to land damage and property rights matters, including successful suits for the restoration of land and groundwater in Louisiana contaminated by oil and gas operations, and work with the Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) Outreach Group in the litigation related to the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.
In Lafayette, Jacqui’s practice included successful defense of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources in the litigation involving the 2012 Bayou Corne Sinkhole disaster; representation of companies in a suit involving mitigation of wetlands in Louisiana; and representation of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in a variety of matters.
Jacqui is licensed in Louisiana and admitted to practice in all state courts in Louisiana as well as in the Eastern District of Louisiana. Jacqui hopes to be admitted to the Texas Bar this year. She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Young Lawyers Division of the LSBA, the Orleans and Lafayette Parish Bar Associations, and the Houston Bar Association. Jacqui has successfully litigated matters in both state and federal court, and is experienced in mediating disputes.
In addition, Jacqui is committed to serving her community. She has served as an active volunteer, fundraiser, and Mentor for the New Orleans Pro Bono Project, the Harry S. Thomson Shelter and Ozanam Inn in New Orleans, and various programs with the Louisiana State Bar Association. She is an active member of the Mardi Gras Krewe of Nyx and the Gulf of Mexico Alliance. She is a former member of the New Orleans and Lafayette, Louisiana Junior Leagues.
