Overview

Cornelia Brandfield-Harvey was born in Houston, Texas, and graduated from Columbia University in New York City. Cornelia was Captain of the Varsity Women’s Epee Fencing Team during her four years at Columbia. She received NCAA All-American and All-Ivy distinctions for four consecutive years. She also led the New York Athletic Club to a National Championship in 2009 and 2010. She was a member of the United States Senior World Epee Team for over 10 years, traveling all over the world to compete. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Cornelia was able to put her Political Science degree to use and teamed up with former Houston Mayoral Candidate Bill King to found PolitiCalendar, LLC. For two years, Cornelia helped run the company, interacting with high profile political candidates along the way.

After PolitiCalendar, Cornelia attended the University of Houston Law Center, obtaining a Juris Doctorate degree. During law school, Cornelia worked for the Honorable Katherine Cabaniss of the 248th Criminal Court, was a Legal Extern at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho, and completed an internship with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Cornelia was a student attorney for the Mediation Clinic and received the Texas Mediators Credentialing Association Award during her third year of law school. Cornelia also received the University of Houston Law Center Summer Public Interest Fellowship two years in a row, awarded to students who show a passion for public service.

Before joining The Buzbee Law Firm, Cornelia worked as an Assistant County Attorney with the Harris County Attorney’s Office in the Litigation Practice Group, aggressively going after high profile strip clubs and illegal massage parlors for prostitution and human trafficking. While at the HCAO, Cornelia was involved in developing the nation’s first Human Trafficking Injunction in conjunction with the Mayor’s office, which was rolled out in August 2018 to combat rampant prostitution in the Houston area.

Outside of work, Cornelia is involved in numerous organizations and groups, including the Houston Association of Women Attorneys, an organization dedicated to improving opportunities for female attorneys and promote recognition of their capabilities.

Cornelia continues to fence on occasion and serves as a mentor to young athletes who want to compete internationally and nationally and also build a career.

Cornelia is licensed in Texas.
