Loews Don CeSar Hotel and TradeWinds Island Resorts continue legal action against BP, seeking payment on agreements for claims stemming from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
The Don Cesar Resort Hotel and Resort Inns of America Inc., which does business as the TradeWinds, filed separate suits in Harris County, Texas, on Jan. 24 seeking $5 million and $5.2 million respectively.
The lawsuits allege that BP failed to pay the hotels for claims arising out of settlements for damages.
The Gulf Coast Claims Facility issued the offers to settle after negotiations.
GCCF Administrator Kenneth Feinberg declined to comment on the hotels’ claims and said that the GCCF website “speaks for itself on the timeframe of payment of claims.”
A Florida status report issued by the GCCF shows 214,075 claimants as of Feb. 8, including 159,800 individuals and 54,275 businesses.
